Hi there, thanks for popping in!
Who is Liv? I guess that is a question I am still trying to figure out; but here is what we know so far 😉
I am 28, recently “funemployed“, a term I recently discovered thanks to a dear friend who ALWAYS sees the silver lining, we all have one of those. I live in both Montreal and Toronto, We the NORTH! I spent a large part of my working days working for a major Canadian airline. This is where some might think my passion for travel started, but it was not! Working and traveling in my early 20’s only added fuel the passionate fire I had for discovering the world!
Original Liv
Born and raised in the suburbs of Montreal, eldest of two younger brothers; I would never call them little brothers – they are anything but little… Mom is Italian and my father French- Canadian. Mom and Dad are both business owners. Mom owns a travel agency – Dad a national commercial mortgage brokerage. Hmmm, the underlying theme here…?
Grew-up speaking Italian, French, and English, so I never really fit into a “crowd”; which, thinking about it 20-odd years later I do not regret in the slightest! Some of my best friends and the most unique individuals I’ve met are from all sorts of random, fun, diverse experiences! Did the whole private school gig, College, Uni- Yay! However, never finished Uni, but more on that later!
The Travel Bug
I can’t pinpoint exactly when I realized I was officially hooked, but, having grown up in an environment where your family-owned and operated a full-service vacation airline may have helped tip the scale. Growing up, we had two vacation homes in Florida, spring breaks in Mexico, summer holidays in the Caribbean and trips to Europe. You name it we did it! It was no surprise I found myself working for one of Canadas’ largest airlines later in life! Things quickly de-escalated after 2001, and the company was sold a few years later.
High school rolled around, and we had plenty of opportunities to travel abroad, Europe mostly. College was fun, adulting and traveling. The crazy adventures seemed to slow down a little in College, I was studying animal health sciences, with the intention to become a Vet!
Fast forward a few years – I’m an operations manager at the largest airport in Canada for one of the largest airlines in the country. Working for an airline DEFINITELY has its perks! Amazing discounted travel, unique work environment, and lots of fun and diverse learning experiences. I was on top of the world, literally! I would end a shift for the week, take my carry-on out of my car and hop on the next available flight out of town for my days off – a once in a lifetime experience I do not regret! But, as they say, “All good things come to an end”; my dad got sick, and, for those who know me, family first… I left this awesome job and moved back home.
Finding Myself – And The Pursuit of Happiness
So this is absolutely still a full-scale work in progress situation here!
After recently becoming “Funemployed”, what I thought I knew and wanted out of life no longer seem relevant. This blog is a stepping stone for me, on this crazy adventure discovering the world, what it means to be happy and finding my purpose.
Thanks for being a part of my Adventure!
